The arrival of Barcelona’s Denis Suarez has seen young Gunner Emile Smith Rowe head to Germany to join RB Leipzig on loan.
The 18-year-old is the latest in a recent armada of young British talent heading to the Bundesliga, with Arsenal’s own Reiss Nelson currently enjoying life at Hoffenheim.
Smith Rowe will remain with the Bundesliga outfit for the rest of the season.
This season proved to be something of a breakthrough for the Englishman, as he netted three goals from his six first team appearances in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. He has also featured in the Premier League squad.
A spokesman for Arsenal said: “Emile has made great progress through our academy, which resulted in him signing as a scholar in 2016 and then signing a professional contract a year later in July 2017.
“The attacking midfielder is also an England youth international, being part of the Under-17 World Cup-winning team in 2017. He moves to RB Leipzig to gain further valuable first-team experience.”
Head coach Unai Emery said: “Emile is a promising young player. This move will get him valuable competitive action which is important as he continues his development.”
