Reports are emerging of a move by Arsenal to take Croatian winger Ivan Perisic on loan until the end of the season.
Quoting sources from Sky in Italy, Sky Sports says the Gunners are in talks with Inter Milan about a loan move for the 29-year-old, with the possibility of buying him in the summer.
According to whoscored.com, Perisic has three goals and two assists from 14 Serie A matches so far this season. He also played a starring role in Croatia’s run to the 2018 World Cup final, managing three goals and an assist.
He was heavily linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United last summer but the deal never materialised and he remained with the Italian giants.
Given our well-reported pursuit of Barcelona’s wide man Denis Suarez, it is difficult to know whether this is Arsenal planting mischievous rumours with the press, or whether Perisic’s own people are attempting to earn their man a move to the Premier League, the land of milk and honey.
What we know for certain is that Arsenal will not be in a position to buy this month so any deal would have to be temporary. Given the shortage of ball carriers in our squad other than Alex Iwobi, however, this report seems to carry some logic. Clearly, though, the Gunners won’t be able to take both Suarez and Perisic this month.
