Arsenal have confirmed the sale of goalkeeper David Ospina to Serie A side Napoli.
The fee is believed to be in the region of £3million.
Ospina joined the Gunners from Nice in 2014 after six seasons in Ligue 1, and made 70 appearances during his time in north London.
A spokesman for Arsenal said: “He was our goalkeeper in the 2017 Emirates FA Cup final win over Chelsea, and was also in the squad for the 2015 FA Cup final victory over Aston Villa.
“With 98 international appearances, David is the most capped goalkeeper in Colombia’s history and also represented his country at two World Cups – in 2014 and 2018.
“We would like to thank David for his contribution to the club and everyone at Arsenal wishes him the best for his future.”
If naught else, the move will free up space in the squad for young Argentine Emi Martinez to stake a claim for a spot in the first team squad. After a series of loan moves, it really is time for Martinez to show he can make the step up.
In terms of revenue raised, the funds extracted from Napoli won’t exactly put us back in with a chance of matching Crystal Palace’s £80million valuation of Wilfred Zaha.
