The reality is that we only managed a point. It wasn't the best performance you'll ever see from an Arsenal side but it wasn't especially bad. It was very much a performance that reflects not only our season but also our current situation with injuries and the European focus.
Have we taken a step forward or a step back?
Somehow, it always feels like we are playing football and juggling venomous snakes at the same time.
If nothing else, the run of fixtures we have between now and the end of the season could provide us with some much-needed answers.
If last night's defeat was a price we had to pay to learn a lesson for good and all, it will be one worth paying.
Is that doable? Given that we play five of the current bottom six before the end of the campaign, as well as Crystal Palace, who currently sit in the bottom half, it is absolutely possible.
I think we could all compartmentalise the odd controversy here or there, we are all human after all, but to have to go into every game wondering if the referee will even do his job correctly is an appalling state of affairs.
While the teams around us stumble, can Arsenal be the one to take advantage for once?
